What is Now TV?
Now TV is owned by Sky. It a subscription service that allows you to watch Sky channels without having to sign a contract. You can watch things such as sports, movies and other entertainment shows. It is basically a cross bread between Netflix and Sky, it has Sky shows but doesn’t require to have a set contract like Sky does. With this you can cancel your subscription anytime and not have to pay again until you renew.
How does it work?
Now TV is different to Amazon Prime and Netflix. It lets you choose what sort of content you want in the form of passes. There a total of five passes altogether; Cinema, Hayu, Entertainment, kids and sports. When you sign up you choose which pass to get. The majority of these passes are available month to month. But you can get the sports pass for a single day. each of these passes cost different prices, the cheapest being the kids and Hayu pass, costing £3.99 each. The entertainment Pass costs £8.99. the Sky Cinema pass costs £11.99 and the Sky Sports pass is the most expensive as it costs £33.99.
Where can I get it?
You can get dedicated Now TV boxes and connect it to your TV. Or, download Now TV on other devices such as; Google Chromecast, EETV, Xbox 360/Xbox One, Ps3/Ps4, Apple TV and Amazon Firestick.
As you can see it available on mostly everything, I used to have it on my Ps4, but as I never used it, I unsubscribed. I found that I always use Netflix or Amazon Prime. As I pay for Netflix and Prime anyway, so I saw no need for me to have Now TV as well, because most of the shows on Now TV are usually on Prime or Netflix anyway.
Pros
There are many advantages to using Now TV. The main advantage is the range of shows. There are many different channels with many categories of entertainment. You get access to shows such as Game of Thrones, and Tin Star. It is also a good present you can get someone for Christmas, because you can get individual passes in the form of redeem code on a plastic card that you type in and claim. Another advantage is that there are usually deals available with special offers. Allowing you to get a lot cut of the overall price. Another benefit is that if you want to watch Sky Programmes, it is much cheaper than getting Sky TV. Another pro is that Now TV tends to have the most recent releases.
Cons
Now TV also has many disadvantages. The main one being that the programmes of there aren’t ever on there for long. They are on there for a short while and by the time you realise it was on there it has been removed. Another disadvantage is that if you wanted all the passes, it would cost £62.95 a month (not very cheap). Another drawback is that its more difficult to navigate than Netflix or maybe Amazon Prime. Another one is that Netflix has a better variety of all shows old and new.
Conclusion
Overall Now TV can be better in some situations. But really it depends on your taste. If you’re into reality tv then it is worth getting Hayu on as it is cheaper than watching them elsewhere. there are more advantages than disadvantages. but personally, I prefer Netflix as it is the cheapest and has the best selection and biggest variety of genres.
